How Does Infrared Sensor Gas Detection Works?

The Infrared Sensor Gas Detector operates based on the principle of utilizing infrared (IR) radiation to detect gas leaks. In this process, energy from the radiation passes through the gas, and certain wavelengths are absorbed depending on the gas's properties. For instance, carbon monoxide absorbs wavelengths between 4.2-4.5 μm. This absorption is compared to a wavelength outside the absorption range, and the energy difference indicates the gas concentration. Notably, this sensor doesn't need direct exposure to the gas for detection. It finds applications in various settings, including wastewater treatment facilities, refineries, and chemical plants, where flammable gases are present. AMBETRONICS offers a CMRI approved LCD detector with 4-20mA output, featuring Flameproof and weatherproof versions. Operating on 24V DC, it includes MAGNETIC PEN CALIBRATION, optional Isolated TWO SPDT relays, and an RS 485 communication port, ensuring robust and efficient gas detection.
